Being that a blog in itself is the perfect social platform, you should really do a lot of social marketing to promote it. Make sure your onsite optimization for this is intact.

For example:

- making sure you have comment form at end of post (and getting some actual comments)
- share buttons like FB & Twitter
- Videos here & there would be nice
- Visible RSS feed that people can subscribe to
- Also polls where people can vote in are a good touch to add user engagement

If you set-up your blog properly as a social platform, then you will find that you really don't have to do a lot of your own marketing, your visitors will do it for you!

Being knowledgeable about social marketing strategies and the importance of social signals is something that you really need to take the time to do -especially now being that it has become so popular!
