Reading through the other answers I have came to the conclusion many people are misguided about blogs and blogging. If you want to actually create positive results from blogging you should really read up on, "Blog Checklist - Step By Step Guide." Hands down the best place to start a blog is a self hosted blog via wordpress.org
Anything else is a waste of your valuable time.
