What does this picture mean to you?

Using the mask of Christianity, (Or Catholicism because he's been crucified and that's not typically seen in Protestantism), Christ, or his Crucifixion to hide who we are and what we are capable of. The color makes me want to think of it in a negative sense, like we are hiding our wrongdoings, not from Christ, but from others. For example, we have shown no remorse over killing someone but we say it's ok because God wanted it. Not the kind were I stole something, felt so guilty, did penance, and corrected the situation by giving everything back.
