Definitely network, you're right about that And thank goodness you're not advertising on other people's channels; that's the most annoying thing in the world. Comment on lots of videos that are similar to yours so people will check out your channel, and send friend requests out. You won't get many subscribers without a decent quality camera (sucks, but it's true) 'cause no one wants to watch fuzz. Get a nice camera, make sure you're titles catch people's attention, and network! Networking seems like the best way to go about it really.
