Because they are smarter than you.

Lets look at Social Security and determine how it affects us and how well the government is running it.

The average Social Security Check is for $1,007, or $12,084 a year. Americans pay 12.4% of their salary to Social Security (Including employer match). Lets look at what would happen if they would invest that money instead.

Lets say that the Average American gets out of college at the age of 21 and make $35,000 per year. This is something that EVERY PERSON can accomplish. The Begin investing that money in a diversified portfolio that on average earns 9% (this is typical).

When they retire at age 70 (the typical age for Social Security now), they will have $4,849,140. With inflation it will be about $3,397,366 in today’s dollars.

Lets say that they want to take the less smart investment rate, but want to guaranty that they will receive a check every day until he dies. Better yet, lets say that he is married but his wife was a stay at home wife, and contributed nothing towards their retirement financially. So they buy a Joint Lifetime annuity with guaranteed income.

Based on the choices above, the annuity will pay:

$32,618.90 a month in the initial year, with annually adjusted benefits payable for the joint lifetimes of you and your joint annuitant.

Plus, 100% of the monthly amount, adjusted annually, payable to the survivor (either you or your joint annuitant) for life after one of you dies.

Plus, a death benefit payable to your beneficiary if both you and your joint annuitant die before receiving benefits for ten years.

Lets see what would be better for the average American $1,007 a month under Social Security, or $32,618.90 a month. I know the difference is staggering and you have never thought of it like this.

Keep in Mind that with the Government managing the money the Social Securityie Board of Trustees estimate that the current Social Security Deficit Social Security's net cash shortfall over the next 75 years totals $25.33 trillion. from 2018 through 2077 Social Security faces gross cash deficits of $26.40 trillion (in $2003), an increase of $1.37 trillion from the 2002 report.

Keep in mind that with an investment account like this they could likely retire before the age of 70 and enjoy their later years. With Social Security they will not only retire early, they will not be able to enjoy their later years on a budget of $1,007 a month.

Keep in mind Social Security is predicted to bankrupt the Country as it stands right now. That means we will not even have money to run the Government and social Security.

Keep in mind that with all retirees spending $32,618.90 a month instead of $1,007 a month, they can now afford their own health care, to buy bigger houses that generate more jobs, more cars that generate more jobs, more goods in general. Remember 2/3 of our total GDP is consumption. The economy would be booming.

Keep in mind that that income will be taxed and the tax revenue that that will generate. ($32,618.90 a month instead of $1,007 a month in income being taxed).

Keep in mind that the almost $5,000,000 per person would be invested in the stock market, which means Trillions in investments for business to grow and expand and create new jobs and opportunity.

The Last thing we need is more Government programs hurting our economy and wasting our money.

The market went down at one point in time about 40%. You would still be vastly better off than if you put your money into social security.

THE REAL QUESTION IS. WHY WOULD YOU TRUST THE DEMOCRATS WHO TIME AND TIME AGAIN IMPLEMENT THESE HORRIBLE LAWS THAT PUNISH 99% OF THE POPULATION TO HELP THE 1% THAT COULD HELP THEMSELVES BUT SIMPLY DON'T.
