Jenna,

The tab key is used more often than other keys, and since its a larger key it need more support, and that is done by the plastic hinge clip under the key cap, the hinge clip do from time to time wear out and therefore a new keyboard or a new laptop key can fix the problem, Here is the direct link to the dell 1720 laptop key, http://www.replacementlaptopkeys.com/ser...721/Detail and if you want a new keyboard, ebay is a good bet.
