why are some jobs asking for you social network link, along with resume. ex. linkedin, facebook, etc.?

My only explanation may be that the company wants to get a better sense of who they are hiring. For example, if on your facebook you have pictures of you and your friends drinking and partying chances are you will not get hired to be a teacher.
