For one don't call her unless you get her number from her, it just seems creepy. Also forget what your friend said, even if it is true it doesn't have to be a problem. Based off of what your saying it sounds like she could like you, but that still seems speculative.
Either way be confident, and get her to start talking about herself. I pick up girls in a different atmosphere (usually the bar) but this works like a charm.
Girls like guys with confidence and they like to talk about themselves so they like guys that can listen to them, or at least pretend to. A good way to get her to start talking about herself is to ask her open ended questions, and to seem interested in what she has to say. (Example: Any fun plans for the weekend?) Once she answers one open ended question it opens the door for more open ended questions, and you have a good conversation going. Once you have her talking be able to remember what she said in the beginning of the conversation so that way you can reference it later. This shows that you were listening, remember girls like to talk about themselves so they like it when a guy can listen or pretend to listen.
