I live in the US and pay a $10 co-pay to see a GP. I know others who pay $20 and $25, but no one over that. Most people who have no insurance go to hospital ERs and get treated for free. Every state has a program which provides regular medical care for EVERY child of any parent who couldn't otherwise afford to go. What's killing our hospitals where they have to raise prices on those with insurance is treating all the illegal immigrants in this country who go to the hospitals for treatment of a cold....for free. I wish those who live here who want national healthcare would read all your answers. Its not the be all and end all that Obama says it is.
TO Djc: LOLOL...maybe you'd like Obama to ask Congress for nationalized veterinary care too. And btw...if you're medical is being paid by Medicare, you are NOT paying $100 for a GP visit (my parents pay NOTHING for GP visits and NOTHING for their recent EXTENSIVE hospital stays). As for prescriptions, if you truly can't afford it, EVERY drug company has a program that allows the indigent to obtain their medications for free. I'm not a fan of the big pharmaceuticals, but at least they do give back in a small way. |
