How do you know that yor friends sent you a message on twitter?

Well if they tag you in a tweet you would usually get an email but if it's a direct message you click on your profile picture at the top and some options will appear and direct messages is one of the options. You click on your direct messages and if your friends sent you any then thats where they would be.
