Just going to those websites you should be fine, however infections are still possible. You won't ever be 100% protected from malware but you can get pretty close. Follow these steps and your computer should be running smoothly for a long time.
1. Avast AV - It's free and works really well. Has real time scanners that scan webpages and blocks attempted malware downloads. I have seen this work very well and have hardly had any malware get through due to this. 2. Malwarebytes AntiMalware - It's free and should be installed in case malware does get through Avast you can scan and remove it easily. It finds lot's of malware that AV's and others miss. 3. SuperAntiSpyware - Same as Malwarebytes (Both should be updated and run weekly/bimonthly/monthly in case you don't notice an infection.) 4. CCleaner - It's free and removes Temp Files and can fix registry. Should be run weekly/bimonthly. 5. A good ad blocker such as your host file. (Google host file and go to the mvps.org website for more info.) If using the host file you should check monthly for a new one. 6 A good firewall such as Comodo. 7. Be careful around adult websites. 8. If you pirate, be careful and read comments or use private sites. 9. Routinely physically clean your computer. Remove dust. 10. Backup important files regularly using a flash drive or external hard drive. |
