Ah, more liberal mythology. How... dull.
Inflation harms the poor and charities much more than anybody else. The increased costs of food and goods has a significant effect on budgets of poor people. If you don't care about inflation, then you don't care that it causes the poor to get poorer, because it makes their limited incomes worth less. Also, inflation reduces real income, since wages tend not to keep up with it. When lower and middle class peoples' incomes buy less and less, then they are no longer able to be as generous with charity. Inflation decreases charitable giving, and makes that decreased giving less capable of buying the necessities that the truly needy require. If you are unconcerned about inflation, then you are unconcerned about the indigent. Inflation also impacts the economy, because as more of our budgets go to paying for necesities, people are forced to cut back on other purchases. Fewer purchases reduces economic activity, which has a direct effect on employment. Employment cannot increase if people are buying fewer goods. Not caring about inflation thus means you don't care about unemployed people. So, what was that you were saying again? |
