The way you make money as a social media strategist is to consult with businesses on how to more effectively manage their social media presence.
Some Social Media Consultants/Strategists get paid thousands of dollars to set up and/or maintain these types of sites for companies.
If you look at all the Facebook Profile Pages for big companies like Coca Cola, and Nike, someone was behind the strategy in their promotions. Sometimes it is in in house, and other times companies will hire a private consultant.
