A while back I saw this news story on Yahoo of this couple who met on X-box live, they dated long distance for 5 years, they were from both ends of the USA, and one days he flew out to finally meet her, and it said they got engaged. So, yes, it could work, but it's going to be hard work, especially since she is in a whole different country. Good luck.
