is it possible to see who has viewed your facebook profile?

There's no way that would work, because the Facebook API, which is the software that application developers use to make their applications, does not provide Facebook applications with the ability to determine when someone is viewing your profile. Any such applications as these are fake. A lot of times these applications just give you reports based on which people post on your wall most often, which is something that the Facebook API does allow authorized applications to access.

It is not possible to get a virus from enabling a Facebook application - you'd have to physically download software onto your computer. Nevertheless, there are scam applications where nefarious types want to collect data on your friends (which applications can access when you authorize them) for data mining/spam purposes.

However, I don't think you're referring to an application, I think that you're actually referring to a petition group - a group of people that has come together to petition Facebook to allow people and/or applications to determine when another user is viewing a profile. Because of the privacy implications, it is not likely that Facebook would enable such a feature.
