Should employees be allowed to text on the job?

MOST employers do not allow this behaviour, and they do discipline employees for it (up to termination)....
employees waste time in numerous ways, electronic devises and social media are just some of the newest ways to be non-productive but as employees we have always found ways to slack-off at work from time to time....


there are some employers who "think outside of the box" and are using these devices, websites, social accounts as tools to improve their business, and it's ability to communicate with it's customers, while improving employee morale....
these ideas are NOT appropriate for every business, for the most part they are not beneficial in food service & retail; but a good employer finds way to encourage their employees to be productive and looks for new ways to turn slacking-off into valuable work product....
