OK the good thing is you know that you have a problem. It won't be easy but every time you feel like you are being obsessive, because you are in a habit you have to break, step back and breathe and feel out the best way to control. Best of luck with everything and remember: even if this friendship fails, you will have better tools next time. But try to relax because sometimes friendships can be close and less close and close again
