Do you think this affects the ability of news media to uphold their social responsibilities?

Yes
See in the past 15 yrs we've gone from 90% of news media being tv, magazines, newspapers to about 50%. With the introduction of better laptop computers and smartphones we will soon see a massive movement to digital technolgies and tv and newspapers will soon become on-line because of more and more internet users. By 2050 tv would become endangered the way we know it but tv would soon become a computer program not a metal box with wires at the back of it connecting it to electricty. Tv and newspapers will exist by 2050 but they will be online that;s the difference.
