My ex and I have been through a lot*?

So, to summarize things up, my ex and I are both freshmen in high school and we dated for a pretty long time. When we were going out, everything was amazing and perfect. Toward the end, we started getting into arguments and eventually fighting. At one point, he got so distant and I couldn't take it anymore. I dumped him thinking that it was what he wanted, but I'm not so sure it was.

When I started talking to other guys, some being our friends, he flipped out on me and got really upset, which led to a huge argument. He was being really immature and said some really mean things to me to make me feel insecure so that I wouldn't go after any other guys.

A few days later, him and his friends started harassing me on twitter and he called me fat and ugly, which isn't even true. They were saying really nasty things to me and i started to hate him. He was making my life hell. I got a group of my guy friends to come over to him at the mall the other day and tell him off and it worked.

Last night, he texted me and said how he had been thinking about what happened and how awful he felt and how sorry he was and explained to me that he's been really upset because his grandfather is really sick and that the break up was really rough. I accepted his apology, but let him know that I was still not happy about how he harassed me. I could tell he genuinely felt bad and he kept the conversation going from dinner time until bed time. I know he fell asleep while we were texting last night, but I have a feeling he won't respond today and it's killing me.

Talking to him last night made everything feel better. All of the hurt was gone. I just felt so happy, and now I'm feeling like he's never gonna reply and we probably won't talk again. I know this sounds crazy but I want him back because I can't help but think how happy he used to make me. Help?
