How can you go on Facebook using the computers in school?

I love public forums and so do all my colleagues who are also school IT staff.

Someone will probably recommend hidemyass.com (which won't work), somebody else will probably suggest https which also won't work, somebody might recommend something that will bypass the filtering, but I and the others can test it and notify the filtering system provider.

We know our software does the following:
1. Blocks using URLs
2. Blocks recognising the signature of many pages so we don't need the URL and checks both http and https
3. Records new website use with the login and computer details of whoever accessed it, so we can deal with any attempts at bypassing
4. Enables us to suspend internet use or logins of those who break the rules
5. Protects the bandwidth, stops the servers filling up with rubbish and protects the network from viruses so that it can be used for what it's designed for... teaching and learning.

If you were trying to bypass an employer’s filtering, you could be fired… don’t get into the habit now.

Like I said, public forums are great places for IT people :o)
