Are old people living in residential care homes allowed to have their own personal computers?
And computers that have internet access, and that belong to the individual, not the home for use of everyone? Social media like Facebook, community forums, email (and Yahoo Answers) seem like they'd be ideal for the elderly who were able to use computers. Private individual computers could also store the elderly person's photos, music & letters, as well as letting them surf the net for their own interests, & stay in touch with family through Skype. So often many elderly people in homes seem to be drifting aimlessly through the day, and I do appreciate many are there precisely because they can't do much, but if they could is this something anyone could do? Or would the cost of the internet be something the elderly people would each have to meet for themselves, & if so would that be too expensive for them?
