If my computer is downloading a virus, will exiting out of the page make it stop?

Reboot
hold the F8 key until you get to the safe mode options
go into safe mode with networking
be patient, its slow

download rkill and run it

a command prompt will open and close, then a log will appear - that means its finished
if no command prompt opens, keep running it til it does

download install update malwarebytes

let it run a scan
see if the report says it cleaned everything

restart back to normal mode
that should fix it
