A worm responsible for sending Facebook users malicious code appears to be limited in nature, although the social engineering attack may be used again, say experts.
Facebook representative Barry Schnitt said the worm isn't new; it dates back to August, although the variant that first appeared on Wednesday targets only Facebook users. http://news.cnet.com/koobface-virus-hits-facebook/ Koobface is quiet popular among all the social network sites including Facebook, MySpace and more. It is a virus that has infected many social media networks. It’s main purpose is to target users and gather sensitive information from the victims such as credit card numbers. http://www.connectedinternet.co.uk/2009/...us-attack/ Hey, I have this hilarious video of you dancing. Your face is so red. You should check it out. If you've received a message like that through Facebook or MySpace, you may have been exposed to the "Koobface" virus. "Koobface" comes through an e-mail sent by one of your social networking site friends inviting you to scope out a video. http://www.pcworld.com/article/155017/fa...ombie.html http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/03/02/...m_returns/ W32/Koobface.worm spreads via Facebook and MySpace. Current variants only target either Facebook or MySpace specifically. Aliases Net-Worm.Win32.Koobface.b (Kaspersky) http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_148955.htm See the image http://www.flickr.com/photos/sarahintampa/3099659773/ I don't think it is targeted to macs but pc.So please stay cautious when using social networking sites. And have good antivirus as kaspersky.and don't download anything you are not sure about. |
