If you're referring to the idea of these things being similar to trending items then yes I would believe that statement to be somewhat true. However, these things share nothing in comparison to the functionality and operations they perform. Facebook and Twitter are forms of social networking tools that keep people connected with one another. While the function of 8 tracks and cassettes perform solely as auditory instruments. It also seems that much larger corporations have come to adopt Facebook as an asset to their business, so they may come to be much more then a trending element.
