Whats a fake Emo and a real Emo?

Ok so i know that there's so called fake Emos and Real Emos apparently i hear that the fake Emos are the ones who listen to mainstream bands like Paramore MCR and All time Low etc etc, and they are the ones who are all depressed, wear black punk clothing eyeliner cut themselves etc etc,and ive always wondered do they become depressed and emo only after immersing themselves in the Genre or were they depressed to begin with and use the music and culture to wear their depression as a badge of honor to show how loyal they are to the genre which is weird, and most emos i know come from well to do middle class families so what do they have to be depressed about? bullying? social awkwardness and anxiety? idk and what is a real Emo? and how do they act and present themselves as apposed to so called fake emos?
