How can I shut off automatic updates on the computer?

He should not turn off automatic updates in Norton. He should make sure he has his product key from Norton. Then uninstall Norton, and download Norton 2009, it runs very light, and the updates will not have any impact on his computer. It uses pulse updates they are fast, and light. It's that simple. Plus the new anti-virus engines on the newer version is much better. His other option is to open Norton by clicking on it, go into setting, and turn off updates. But this is a mistake, a user should always run the newest version of the anti-virus programs. Norton has really improved these last two years, and he should use the new version.
