Why are so many Americans opposed to social security?

because people have been lied to about the whole program by those who want to get that money into their " private " hands . It's an employer matched savings account with very low operating costs and the profits are used to help those in need instead of multi - million dollar salaries and bonuses . Right now the fund stands about 2.5 trillion dollars and the privateers want to wipe it out .. It is the last remaining bit of capital left after they have wiped out home values with debt . An easy fix for the short term deficit is to remove the income caps .
