Why do girls get so obsessed with their boyfriends?

Honestly, we have this sickening idea in our culture that has been perpetuated by technology that two people need to be attached at the hip- meaning that at all times, they need to be texting, or calling, or hanging out, or going on vacation, etc. My grandpa and my grandma were together for 50+ years before my grandfather died, and he was an excellent salesman and a father of 5 children. He would travel the country for a week a time, and back when they were young, there were no cell phones or readily available pay phones- he would tell me "Matty, I love your grammy because I never had to ask myself what she was doing when I wasn't home, because in my heart I knew she was just wondering the same thing about me and she'd be there when I got back." He and I were very close and he LOVED my grandma with all his heart- and he had one phone call with her a week those days. That's it, one fucking phone call for five minutes to let her know he was safe at his hotel. I'm no social scientist, but man... love does not require constant facebook updates, pictures, gifts, vacations, dates, texts, and everything else that it seems like it has become these days in order to chase a hot piece of ass down to get her to fuck you along with the 10 other guys she's banging, and then go do it all over again with 10 other girls. If that is what people are into these days, I'm sorry but that's just not love- not having the independence to have your own likes and interests to show other people, and to YOURSELF, who you are is disgustingly unattractive in my opinion. If you truly love someone that much, as bitter as it sounds, do not shove it down everyone's throats- we're happy you're happy but please, keep it to yourself. But I do not want a girl like that. Yick!
