Regardless of whether you want to be back with this guy or not, disappearing is the best first thing to do. If he wants to be with you, he will be asking your friends how you're doing, or even text you and ask you that question. He will be curious and want to know what's all going on in your life.

Taking that chance at this moment will only lead to what it's been the past couple times. So, have this as a test for him, in a way. If he talks to you or your friends asking about you, then he truly cares and the statuses do add up to him thinking about you. If not, then there might be something else brewing, and I would not get involved in that.
