Twitter is a social networking site where people you can follow people, and, in turn, people can follow you. When someone follows you, they see all of the 140 character messages you tweet. They also increase your "Followers" number -- which is a number that indicates how many people have decided to subscribe to your tweets. As of April 2011, Twitter does not provide a method of hiding your followers. However, you can change the design of your Twitter page so that the text displaying your amount of followers is essentially invisible.
