How do I combine facebook likes for two domains?

I made a new website and it automatically made a www and non-www version. This was fine but I didn't realise until after I had some facebook likes on the pages that the number was different and even though they are both based on the same webpage, they aren't connecting the Facebook likes. I have tried phoning my web hosting company and I have been searching Google all day and can't find any solution. The Facebook insight page only shows the site without www and when I try to add it with the www it doesn't do anything and just displays the results for the site with lower likes on it. It's highly frustrating and any help would be appreciated.
