Twitter Replies? . . . . . . . . . . . . .?

Twitter Help says:

Have you ever wondered where your @reply will appear once you've sent it? Hopefully this table gives a better outline of where Tweets go when you click the "Tweet" button.

Definition: Any message with fewer than 140 characters posted to Twitter.

Where it appears for the sender: On the sender's profile page and Home timeline.

Where it appears for the recipient: In the Home timeline of anyone who is following the sender.

Q. That is a lot of followers in some cases, does that mean that a lot of people are not reading all their replies because they have to keep going to their followers' Twitter sites,

When I come by someone that I like & want to reply to, & click follow, if I then click Reply I see this in the typing box:

@name

Do I type my message after it as in:

@name Yes that is correct & I thought it was very good.

Can I have this reply appear in their Twitter page under where the post is even if only they can see it?

In the process of writing this question I have realised & understood why Twitter does it like this, however Twitter itself does also say that a lot of people use their Twitter as a mini blog. Does that mean that I cannot reply to anyone at Twitter for several days after I have blogged something unless I have another one?
