Did anyone read where more than ever, people are applying for Social Security these days?

You have to have a true disability in order to receive SSI. Plus it can take well over a year to get it, if not longer. SSI will turn you down every time unless you have proof of not being able to work. It just isn't that easy to get it. BTW people over 50 can and do get jobs all the time. I know people in their late 70's that still work because they prefer to do so. It is NOT impossible to get a job after 50, but you may have to look harder and longer. I know this for a fact as I live in a senior community and many seniors do indeed work here, by choice.
