I don't think its the public that has anything to do with it as the Players Association has warned. It 100% the media's fault that the players are turned into hermits.
As readers and listeners to our news papers and TV networks, (so much crap coming from the media) Are we so gullible and believe what is said or written? The media needs a story/ies, so to sell a story, they would make up a story basing on what a player has done or said. If one player talk's about something good about the footy club or whatever....the media will find a negetive from it. As players....they are pushed to be good role models, they are always in the spot light, and yet the media has no mercy when it comes to a player stepping out of line. The media influences our thoughts & opinions. The media obviously thrive on propaganda and will blow up any tiny thing just to sell their newpaper or listen/watch their program. Dont believe the hype is the best rule of thumb when it comes to footy related 'headlines'. Men are men, boys are boys and footy players are NOT perfect. They do need to set a good example to young kids BUT....some of their bad behaviour is best left in the dark - the media hyping some situations up to ridiculous proportions actually draws the attention of young kids, resulting in them taking more of an interest than necessary.
