I need Facebook-stalker advice, and I'm the stalker. Should I give full disclosure or wait it out?

Okay, hear me out. I just met this guy and we have gone out a few times. He and I are not FB friends, but I did look him up and check out his profile. Well, apparently I sent a friend request to one of his friends which I didn't realize until this other person accepted it! I was tired and it was 100% an accident. As soon as I realized what happened, I deleted this "mutual friend" and now I'm freaking out. Should I tell the guy, or just keep my mouth shut?

Please, no comments on me being weird or creepy or stalker-ish. I would NEVER intentionally friend someone else. But of course I would look someone up, especially someone I'm going out with, and I have no problem admitting this. Everyone looks everyone up these days, and I expect him to have looked me up too.

As far as FB privacy goes, my understanding is that since my "new friends" are private, I'm only 50% protected. It depends on the other person's privacy settings whether or not his new friends pop up on his timeline/news feed.
(edit) - I guess I'm asking more about "relationship" advice rather than how FB works. Should I tell the guy I recently met that I accidentally friended one of his friends, or should I not say anything?
