Nobody, and absolutely nobody can force you to put it on Facebook. I had a relationship with a girl and never put it on FB. Not because I was ashamed or anything, but plainly because I could not care less about Facebook. Some people however think that Facebook and real life should be 1. This is a personal opinion that you should respect, though not follow if you don't want to.

If your boyfriend wants to put it on Facebook, tell him you don't want that and explain why. A man who loves and respects you truly will certainly understand and make no problem out of it.
