Social media sites are interactive because it is something that the user "interacts" with and communicates with. In addition, the users use the site and it facilitates their interaction with each other. This in turn can be used to benefit business' because it can allow the business to get it's loyal customers effectively to advertise it for no cost. It is similar to word of mouth, except using a social media site to facilitate the spread to all of their friends. The links to business is helps because people like to be treated as people, and linking to an online perspective of them allows the business to interact in turn with the public on a human level.
