Possibly although you'll have to toss out the whole genre George Romero invented. Originally a zombie was a body raised from the grave to serve a bokkor (praactioncer of black magic in voodoo). There are a couple cases of people (most famously Clairvius Narcisse who was found alive after being pronounced dead and buried) who were thought dead and even buried only to be found alive years later. If true this is most likely rooted in the use of toxins on the victim that induce a catatonic state not some weird virus and the person is in fact still alive just forced to serve the poisoner.
