Two examples of how you could minimize risks when working online?

1) Work is for work, stay off sketchy sites.

2) Make sure your anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware, etc. programs are installed.

3) Try not to run .exe files unless you know exactly what they are.

4) Look into a program like Deep Freeze that restores the computer to its original configuration each time the computer starts up. If you do need to save something get an external HDD or flash drive.
