I understand hashtags but why the pound sign when there are other signs?
I completely understand what 'hashtag' is, I use Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram every day.

I know how it started. I just want to know when the hashtag started, why wasn't it any other sign?

So why # and not %^&*#$@
