People can have friends on their profile, or likes on their pages. For sure, having 100K followers can be of value (monetary value, that is), provided that:
- the followers trust the owner of the profile or the page,
- the owner makes his followers some relevant offers (it's easier with a page as it generally deals with 1 topic, and the followers are usually interested in the topic, and the owner can make offers which are related to the topic).

For example, if you own a page that deals with weight loss and has 100K followers, you can make your followers offers on:
- healthy recipes,
- fitness programs,
- supplements,
etc. Because your page is about weight loss, your followers are interested in weight loss, and, provided that your have their trust, when you offer them a product that relates to weight loss, they may buy it resulting in a commission for you (for that to happen though, you must have a relationship with the owner of the offer to get paid that commission; this is known as affiliate marketing).

Hope this helps!
