I just made a facebook account but it is not in the timeline format. How do I change that?

I just made a facebook account but it is not in the timeline format. How do I change that?
I clicked on the link for the timeline (http://www.facebook.com/about/timeline) but it did not have a big green button to get the timeline.
And I LIKE timeline. so I do want it
