I say go for it. But slowly. Since you're her partner in a class, it shouldn't be a problem getting her number since you'll have to do at least one class project together at some point in the class. As for why she isn't going out with anyone, make sure she doesn't have a long-distance relationship going on. That mught be a reason why. OR she could just be waiting for the one she thinks might be worth her time.
