When you click on a group, a Join button will be right on top; you can't miss it. For example: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31...ref=search

As for a free website where you can edit your pictures, I use Fotoflexer: http://www.fotoflexer.com It's very good.
Or you can use Picnik: http://www.picnik.com
