should i cancel friend request on facebook?your advice?

i had a friend,he is no more my friend,but last month i sent him friend request on facebook.com,i thought we had good friendship,but he didn't accept,nor he rejects,and now i also don't like him,and i don't want he accept my friend request,so some time i think i should cancel the friend request,but some time i think it is not a normal and cool act to do that,and also i think if i cancel friend request then he will think i am caring about him,but on the other hand i don't like him and i don't want he add me...so need your suggestion
thanks all and also i will mention he meet me in a nice way when he see me,but i sometime think it is double dealing as he dont accept my friend request
