Wrong kind of friends, true and honest friends do not do those kind of things. You are not being over sensitive, but actually becoming aware of what if wrong with the friends you have. Trying to fit in with other people is always going to hurt in the end. I am only going to guess that all of you are young, the toughest and hardest part of our lives to get through.

They say "Words are cheap because supply exceeds demand" Meaning people tend to say more than they need to say and make fools of themselves.
