Seriously, just go up to him and say hi. Start talking to him like you would on social media. Then a real conversation shall be created if you do that. Hang out with him and be yourself. Don't just wave at him from afar and scream his name (in fact, I know most guys don't even like that and they thing it's weird or embarrassing). Be his friend before anything else. Spend real time with him, not virtual time.
Seriously though, there is nothing bad that could happen if you just talk to him. Just take a deep breath and go for it. Good luck and carpe diem.
