I'll answer your question if you answer mine! Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I'll answer your question if you answer mine! Is there anything I can do to fix this?
I'm 20 years old and last monday I "dumped" a guy I was dating because we have very different values and lifestyle. We were never official, but some of our friends knew we were seeing each other. He's not the sort of guy I see myself ending up with, but I still like him and it hurt me to let him go. Honestly I've got really bad commitment issues due to my family's past, and it didn't exactly make it better that I didn't truly understand what he wanted from me. I didn't talk to him after that. This friday we ended up at the same party, which took me by surprise. He wasn't drinking (designated driver) and I got pretty wasted. I feel really stupid right now because I remember I once commented on him drinking too much and in the end I ended up being the drunk one. Anyways... I was trying to get his attention, but of course he didn't go to a party to talk to the girl who said she didn't want him. He treated me respectfully and drove me home after the party. I paid him for the ride. I can't remember everything I said, but I didn't say straight out that I miss him. I remember him saying that I should be careful with what I say when I'm drunk though. Last night he texted me. This time he had been drinking and said he wanted to talk to me. He was hoping I'd be at home, cause I live very close to the pub he was at. I wasn't at home though, cause I'm visiting my mother. Later on he called me and was going to say something (he said he wanted to talk to me), but then I heard a noise in the background (think his friend was in a fight or something), and he said he was sorry and would have to call me later. He never did. Silly me for ever dumping the guy is hurt because he didn't so I wrote him on Facebook and the conversation was something like this (and yes, it was THAT short):

Me: Hi. You called me last night and said you wanted to talk, but then something happened on your end and you had to hang up. Is everything okay?
Him: oh Smile

1. Do you think he contacted me because he missed me or just because he needed a place to stay (and get something)? He lives outside of town and I live in the city centre
2. Does he still like me or is he careless?
3. Is there anything I can do to fix what happened between us? If so, how should I do it?
