It sounds like you are referring to the 'Top Friends' application. These are chosen by the owner of the profile, not a gage of who visits it.
Facebook does not have any 'tracker' applications as this would breech the Facebook privacy policy. There are many applications that 'claim' they show you who visits your profile, however these are all gimmicks and hoaxes.
