MySpace is still there, and under new ownership. A lot has been changed on MySpace in the past four months under the new majority owners. Yes eventually so to will fall Facebook. To many are saying that MySpace, is dead and gone. Yet people are still joining, and with the changes to Facebook, in complexity there maybe a huge number of people who return to MySpace, if it maintains a simpler platform that it has now, but returns some of the original features such as groups ,forums, and favorites.

As to the statement by Miss Gangster Cat, that MySpace, would give you a virus, MySpace, in and of itself never ever had a virus on the site. That statement is false. Anyone that got a virus did not ever under any circumstance get it directly from MySpace. They either clicked on a link to a questionable site, or used one of those trackers that gave them the infection, or were hit by drive by downloads, that has hit users on Facebook as well as thousands of other websites that are advertisement revenue based. A flash based advertisement is hijacked, and redirects the user to a scamware malware protection site, that claims your computer is infected. The only infection you end up with is their scamware virus scanner which never originated from MySpace, or its server system. I can say this after having for somewhere over five years, spent many hours in the forum area of MySpace, as a volunteer helping other users.

Based on some of what I have seen yes Facebook is starting to fade, and lose its luster. This is and was a known factor for Facebook, for anyone that has been on the internet for a while. I wouldn't touch their IPO when they take the site public trading on the stock market. Someday the same will happen to Twitter maybe, but it's to highly favored for it's ability to gather information quickly from people in short bursts. If something better presents itself people will go to that. Twitter is to valuable a tool to the media to let go of, as it's a great way to conduct fast surveys.
